Pencils are absolutely essential to a math class. Having a good sharpener and more than one is super helpful. Being organized is a lesson to students as well. I want my students to never have to worry about not having a pencil. Learning happens in an enviroment where you are not worried about outside influences. How many times have you heard a teacher in disbelief that you showed up without a pencil? I don't want to spend time on that. I want to teach math! My students will always be prepared when they come to my class when this is funded!
