Flexible seating is an amazing new concept I am trying to incorporate into my classroom. It is a concept that allows students to choose various seats and positions to learn in, rather than spend all day in a stiff chair and desk. Students will be able to choose a variety of seats that will allow them to rock, wiggle, and sprawl out on the floor.
One furniture item I chose is a lap tray. The students can utilize this lap tray to mobilize their learning. They can work on the floor, outside, or in a small group. This item will allow students to work comfortably from any location- inside or outside the classroom.
Additionally, I chose floor cushions as another flexible seating option in my classroom. When students are silent reading, they need to be comfortable. Many students choose to read on the floor. Rather than sitting on the hard ground, students will be able to pick a floor cushion to sit on.
I also chose wobble cushions as an additional flexible seating option. Students can put these cushions on their desk chair and it will make their chair softer and more comfortable. The squishy design will allow students to quietly move and wiggle at their seat without being disruptive to other students
All of these flexible seating options will enhance my students' education, and allow them to flourish in the classroom. They will allow my students to learn in an environment where they are free to move around and learn in a relaxed environment.
