Many of my students need help to learn essential skills that will help them both in school and everyday life. The items I am requesting were chosen based on what they would bring to my students while still allowing them to have fun. For example, games like Bananagrams and Quiddler will help my students practice spelling skills in a competitive and fast-paced way. Games like Distraction help with memorization and working memory skills. Scattegories and 5 Second Rule help students practice flexible thinking and categorization skills. Kingdomino and Forbidden Island teach players how to strategize and plan ahead. Lastly, Dixit works on students' storytelling and description skills.
With these games, my students will be able to practice essential skills that are necessary for both learning and functioning in everyday life. Opportunities to play games during class will offer my students a learning experience while allowing them to socialize with each other. They will also be able to enjoy activities that allows them to de-stress from their regular school obligations while still practicing skills.
