My 6th Graders asked me if we could get an Alexa for our classroom. This is the first year my school has provided Chromebooks for my students and together we are building a digital learning environment. As a community of digital learners, we are doing our best to implement technology efficiently and effectively into our classroom.
As Middle Schoolers, we do multiple learning activities each day. Class time is split into remediation, grade level work, games, hands on activities, exercise and more. We try to keep class moving, energetic, and try to avoid sitting still for too long (not just for them, but for me too :)
One of the challenges of a dynamic classroom is to keep on schedule and pace. An Alexa could keep up with our activities and make sure we change at the correct time. Alexa can also model read aloud for us as we work on our literacy skills and quickly look up definitions for new words. We also could use the the Alexa "buttons" for quizzes and games. There are many more great ways to use Alexa that I'm sure my kids will be great at discovering!
