In a society where my students cultural identities are often times erased and ignored within the media, it is important for them to have access to academic resources that represent their cultures in a positive light. My Latino and African American students need access to books that are both engaging and culturally relevant in order to further inspire their excitement to read.
With these new books, my students will finally have access to positive representations of themselves that will strengthen their excitement and dedication to growing their reading levels. I am positive that each of these books will be read continuously and with increasing joy as each student learns about their own identities, those of their peers, and of those around the world.
