We are an inner city high school with great diversity of students from all socioeconomic backgrounds. We have a large number of low income/school lunch program students, with a substantial population of English learners. Some students have been exposed to diverse life situations, traveled to other cities and states, and have the resources and support necessary to be successful students. Many others have limited exposure to different opportunities, have never left the neighborhood they live in, and have limited financial, as well as academic support at home. College may seem a distant possibility to these students, let alone what they would do with their life.
