By providing our classroom mathematical manipulatives, students will be able to participate in math with a hands-on approach. This gives them to ability to see math in a concrete way, rather than just numbers on a white board.
Manipulatives allow students access to the physical world. By providing them the materials on my list (building blocks, snap cubes, tiled dots, etc.), they can developed math strategies for their questions by building the equation in a physical way. Learning become fun and students start to see the benefit of learning math as a foundation for their lives in the future.
I want to empower them to develop their own strategies!
