My students are racially and economically diverse. Many of their families work in agriculture, local canneries or factories, or in the service industry.
I teach 8th grade US history and focus on the 19th century in the United States. Many of my students are in our Pre-AP program which allows them to gain skills that will help them succeed in advanced classes in high school and college, an opportunity that affords many the chance to be the first in their families to attend college.
