The Giver is a part of the 8th grade curriculum at my school and the kids love it, but the books that we have, that have been supplied by the school are ripped and missing pages, which affects the educational process. My students are struggling readers in an economically depressed area and I’d like to provide them with materials that are not torn and dilapidated to show them that they do matter and they are worth it. If they’re given new books, it could very well motivate them to work harder and do better which will improve their collective self-confidence
