There will be a lot of transitioning going on in our room - into and out of the classroom, to and from desks, forming circles together, and coming to arranged seating on the carpet. This arrangement affords each student their own "space", enabling students to understand expectations around "their space", as well as to make timely transitions during the course of our day.
Time will be saved.
Transitions are a huge part of the day, particularly for 6 and 7 year old students. We seldom are found sitting still for far beyond 15 or 20 minutes. When it's time to stand up and do an interactive lesson, for instance, students will be excited for the "changing up", as well as assured of each having their own "personal space" within the larger group
