We need a carpet, a pillow, and stool. Who did you learn language from? Do you remember learning community rules and social and academic language? Our students need this community space to hear good language models, practice social and academic language, use new vocabulary, share their home experiences and connections, and learn that their ideas and what they have to say matter. The rug that seems like "just a rug" will offer this safe and comfortable place to practice language and take the linguistic risks that they might not feel comfortable taking in their general education classroom or even at their own home. Please help us make this possible!
