My school is a very poor school--the poorest in our district, which consists of 19 schools. The majority of them do not speak English at home, and face very serious problems at home. Many of them come to school starving, having not eaten since the school day before because there is no money for groceries at home. They love to come in the classroom, as it is a place to escape--where they are loved and safe.
