My students love to read and explore words each and every day. I have chosen several sets of leveled readers for them to enjoy as they track their own progress and set reading goals throughout the school year. Many of my students do not have access to books at home, so these sets would allow them to take part in nightly reading experiences with their families.
While we do have access to ten iPads in my classroom, my students still crave opportunities to engage in hands-on learning experiences. I have included several word and letter manipulative sets to help them explore phonics and spelling patterns in an entertaining, child-friendly way.
In our class, students also need space to store all of the materials that first grade requires. Chair pockets would help us to store items such as clip boards, dry erase boards, and pencil pouches in order to promote organization and set them up for success throughout the day.
