The students in my classroom are from low income homes with limited resources. Despite their lack they are smart, hardworking and full of spirit. What I love most about them is their ability to see the good in the everyday ordinary events. Over half of my students experience home life that is stressed due to single parenting, money issues, parents working long hours, multiple families in a single-family dwelling, family violence and numerous social issues. More than half of them have never been to a movie or experienced the things of average incomes experience. I want them to experience the movies and to have books that increase their vocabularies.
