Science has changed significantly with the adoption of NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) and we are using several different modes of learning to teach engineering practices and real world application of complex concepts! There is a special excitement that comes when my students get to do labs in science class. When we aren't doing a hands on lab, we love interactive simulators on our Chromebooks! Our problem is the need for headphones. Simulations have helpful sound effects and even oral directions that help students understand and complete tasks. These directions are especially helpful for my English language learners and students with special needs.
With 38 students in a classroom, we can't have different sounds coming from every Chromebook. They need headphones!
