These supplies will help the students learn successfully by facilitaing structure and organization in the classroom. Students will learn social skills, play skills, and access to curriculum using these everyday school supplies. The art supplies such as paint, glue, dot markers, and adaptive scissors will help the students work on fine motor skills and creativity. The binders, folders and storage bins will keep the students materials and paperwork organized to help monitor progress and data collection. The sensory items such as the bean bag, and scooter allow for movement breaks and sensory input. Finally, a classroom needs toys to help the students learn play skills and to create a nuturing fun environment.
As a first year teacher, setting up the classroom using these materials will help the students be successful from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. This school year will be the first time many of these students step into a classroom. These supplies will help the students have a positive experience with school. Everything from partitions to provide safe learning environments to binders and files to organize student materials and goals will play an important part.
