As an educator, I see incredible potential in bringing technology into the classroom through student movie-making. This year, students will write monthly book reviews and share them with their peers via Google Classroom. I would like to take this one step further by teaching students how to write, film, and edit short clips that will bring their book reviews to life and encourage other students to read.
Additionally, I would like to use the video camera equipment for a local film contest that promotes the use of technology in the classroom. Students will work in teams to write a script, video tape, and edit their own films. They will then be submitted for consideration for the Sacramento Educational Consortium Video Awards. By using a green screen, students will have the opportunity to experiment with video editing. Microphones will help enhance sound quality and create a more professional sounding film.
