Our Oakland public school is located in the hills of our city, with an amazing view of the bay, and the students who attend it every day come from every region of the city. Ours is a non-neighborhood school, but we work very hard to build a strong community among the students, families, and teachers and staff, by being inclusive to all kinds of people and families, learners and thinkers. We are very diverse, socially and culturally, with many different ethnicities and cultures being represented. In addition, our school is also diverse on the socioeconomic scale as well, with families across income levels. Our school won the CA Distinguished School Award in 2012, and we pride ourselves on teaching art and music (instrumental and rhythm) to each student. We have a strong PTA that supports instruction of enrichment classes and academic support for the school.
