My students are the cutest, sweetest, most compassionate children around. They come from backgrounds of neglect and rough home lives and their disabilities can make it hard for them to function in daily life.
I want them to have the safest and most comfortable room around, where they want to come to school and learn! My students would really benefit from the sensory items, such as the water table, sensory shapes and the foam stuffed animals. They love to hands on, and feel different textures, it comforts them. My students are also very little and normal classroom furniture can be overwhelming to them and they need objects and spaces where they can learn and sit comfortably.
These items would impact their learning every day. They usually come to school with nothing and look forward to just even holding a stuffed animal. Adding more objects where they can be hands on will increase their fine motor skills and ability to practice daily routines.
