The digital weather collection equipment will allow my students the opportunity to gather various weather data including temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction, and rainfall. Furthermore, since some of the equipment is wireless, we can safely view how the data changes in live time, especially if a storm happens to pass through during class time (quite likely in the spring).
This equipment will allow us to submit our rainfall amounts as a community site on the Community Collaborative Rain Hail and Snow Network (CoCoRaHS).
The rain gauge is a high precision and accuracy rain gauge intended for use in the CoCoRaHS Network. The use of it will further reinforce the skills used to manually take measurements, something we do quite often in the science classroom.
