Students from low socioeconomic backgrounds often struggle with social skills and with the ability to self regulate. These can lead to significant behavior issues in the classroom. These behavior issues often translate into more academic problems over the course of their lifespan.
The books will help the students with these skills and self regulation in order to ultimately raise their academic achievement level and better arm them with skills for their future. Students that are often worried about having enough food or warm enough clothes to wear are the most likely to struggle with these complex social-emotional skills. Therefore, the development of these skills is vital to their long term success.
