Connecting students to literacy apps through technology will greatly improve their literacy skills. iPads have many features that make them more accessible to students with learning disabilities and visual impairments. Some of my middle school students are still reading at the 3rd grade level!
There is a great need for remediation before these students transition to high school.
Students with learning disabilities and/or dyslexia can access speech to text programs to write a paper, listen to an audiobook, practice reading, highlight text and create notes. They will also be able to access learning apps to address other academic areas of need.
