In our school, students spend the semester learning about the importance of keeping our Colorado River clean and conserving water. In order to to this, we have students observe the macro-invertebrate population in local rivers and streams. Students then draw what they see to create scientific renderings of the macro-invertebrates.
Having these microscopes will elevate student learning as they will be able to look at their organisms but also be able to save their photo to reference later. This hands on learning will be vital to the understanding of indicator species. Students will create scientific renderings of what they see.
