I am a 3rd grade teacher in an urban neighborhood at a K-4 elementary public school. My class is very diverse in learning abilities, ethnicities, and languages. Due to their families' economic status or limited time in the country, many of my students lack prior knowledge and experience due to their limited exposures. My students struggle in reading comprehension due this limitations which impact their performance in other subject areas. Only about a handful of my students have computers to use at home and we are only limited to one in the classroom. Between home and school, the students are very limited to technology, which is becoming more and more a necessity in modern day classrooms. Our classroom is falling behind in this digital age as technology has become more influential in student learning.
