Remember that year your parents got you a huge present for your birthday that came in a really, really BIG box? Maybe it was a bicycle, or a doll house, or a kitchen set. The toy held your attention for a few days, but the thing that gave you countless hours of entertainment wasn't the present at all. It was the BOX that the toy came in. You see the bicycle, or doll house, or kitchen set only served one purpose, but that box could be whatever your heart desired it to be- a rocketship, a submarine, an airplane, or a spooky cave- all with the help from a little IMAGINATION. Creativity is not dead! These books will inspire my class to become little ENGINEERS! They will support creative STEM Challenges in my classroom. For example we will create our own musical instruments just like the kids in Music Music for Everyone by Vera B. Williams. Or design our own bird cages like the one needed in Mem Fox', Tough Boris. All of these projects will come to life using recyclable materials, but first we need the books for inspiration, and that's where you come in! Osmo Genius kits will expand hands on learning experiences for these students. These kits will provide more opportunities for children to plan, create and design. They will transform the iPads into hands on learning centers. This will be another station for kids to choose from during our STEM Challenge time.
