Technology is everywhere, entwined in almost every part of our culture. It affects how we live, work, play and most importantly, learn. With background knowledge in technology becoming an increasing requirement across every industry today, it only makes sense that our classrooms are offering technology for the students to use and learn from daily. If used correctly, technology will help prepare students for their future careers. Integrating technology into the classroom is an effective way to connect with students of all learning styles. It gives students the opportunity to enhance the interaction with their classmates and teachers by encouraging collaboration. It increases student engagement. However, that's not what I want you to focus on.
I want to to focus on the twenty-five, beautiful kiddos in my classroom who have hopes and dreams to change the world. If given the chance to use technology in the classroom, they will be that much closer to making those dreams become a reality. I teach using the standard workshop model - mini lesson, rotations, share time. I work hard to differentiate every lesson because I know just how important it is to reach all students at their individualized levels. I'm hopeful that adding technology to the already differentiated rotations will strengthen their learning opportunities and help me help them make their big dreams one day closer to coming true.
