Primary sources for world history are difficult to find, having classroom sets of large collections readily available will enhance my students learning of world history. The study of world history requires more than just the textbook.
One of the ways to engage students in history is to read primary sources, written by the people who actually lived in the time period they are studying. An emphasis in my classroom is on document-based questions (DBQ). Students will use Primary Source: Documents in World History and World History in Documents: A comparative reader in two ways; first they will use them as class assignments to engage in the content. These sources will also be used as sources for research papers and other projects, such as National History Day.
