I have over eighty students from various backgrounds, and the ESL classroom is where many times they find an oasis in the middle of a stressful day. Having a rug will allow them to have a place where they can all comfortably come together for a mini-lesson or to do some hands-on work with their peers. Students become more engaged in their work and less disruptive when given more than one option of where to work.
By donating to our project we will gain a cozy space where concepts are introduced and practiced, stories are heard, and thinking takes place. It's that one special place where everyone feels welcome and everyone knows that something new and exciting is about to take place! The carpet is a home inside of our classroom, a place that fosters learning and creativity.
