As a high school reading teacher, I am always looking for new ways to engage my students in the improvement of their reading. We read books and use Chromebooks to access online reading intervention programs, but we need more.
Listening to reading has been proven to increase reading fluency. I want to use iPads in my classroom to access apps such as Audible, Overdrive, and Hoopla, to allow my students to listen to and follow along with high interest texts in order to increase their fluency, which in turn increases comprehension. We will also use the iPads for vocabulary building apps and games.
