I have selected the wobble chairs, the balance balls and the carpet to give my students an alternative to sitting in a rigid chair for instruction. Instead of feeling as they have to get up and run away from instruction, we can use them as a part of our daily choices. The choices can help build student confidence. These materials will help our students to focus less on how much they may need to move, and more time inside instruction. If we can allow these students to make the choice of where they would like to learn and how, the probability of success and attention to learning can significantly increase. The carpet could also help greatly in aiding these students in learning all about personal space and what is appropriate. Teaching these life skills and social skills are important to their emotional gains. Meeting these developmental milestones will aid in their goal toward inclusion with their peers.
