As a special education educator, I am fully aware that every student has a different learning style. Most of my students, especially my preschoolers, kindergartners, and first graders, learn best when they are learning in a space that is not bound and ruled by a table and a chair. Other students need to constantly move. Based on this, a flexible space will give my students the flexibility to be more ready for learning, as well as providing a cozy and welcoming environment in our speech room.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement by supporting their speech-language needs. By providing a space where students can learn and feel comfortable doing so, we are increasing the changes for success in the speech room, which translates to success in the general education environment and beyond.
The materials asked for in this project are a bookcase to put engaging books and speech-language materials on, pillows so students can sit on the floor and explore content however they feel most comfortable to, and a rug to clearly mark the space for our flexible space.
