Although we take a lot of pride in creating clean and welcoming classrooms for our students, much of our shelving and available storage dates from the 1950s or before. So our beloved classroom library currently sits on old, unsafe, mismatched, dented, rusty metal bookcases--eek!
Many of our students don't have access to books at home and have not had an opportunity to visit a public library. As a result, our thoughtfully curated classroom library is our students' only point of access for the books they crave.
We would be thrilled to be able to showcase our books in an appealing, safe, and engaging way and know that these new bookcases will help us do just that and MORE! The casters will enable us to move and use the bookcases to easily create different classroom configurations that will promote center-based learning, group project work, and co-teaching spaces in our full-inclusion classroom. The size and uniformity will create more usable classroom space and promote easy student access to our books. Finally, the vibrant blue color will add to the visual appeal of our classroom.
