As a reading teacher, I am always encouraging the students to take the time to read whether it be a graphic novel, picture book, or a video game manual. Some like to read, and some don't. Reading benefits their minds in so many ways - vocabulary, writing, fluency, etc. Using flash lights to set the mood for independent reading will encourage and motivate them to read in a fun way. Having flash lights to encourage and make reading fun will just add one more element into making reading academically succeeding! The flashlights that I have chosen from Amazon are small enough for a 10 year old, yet durable enough to take a fall.
