Consistent access to a projector will allow me to teach science to my students using a variety of different mediums. All students learn in a variety of ways, and a projector would allow me to reach all students and enhance all of my lessons with pictures, videos, and easily accessible directions.
The majority of my students are second language learners who would greatly benefit from having visuals with directions, pictures of materials and concept and important vocabulary consistently displayed throughout the lesson for them to reference.
Having a projector would allow students to reference visuals throughout their experiments and learning. The majority of my students are second language learners so the visual supports are essential to understanding the lesson and concepts. Students can use the projector to demonstrate their thinking and understanding by labeling parts of a projected picture of animals, plants, the water cycle, or any subject that is being taught. Students understanding will be increased through videos shown throughout units around the topic being taught. The projector is a technological tool that is necessary in the classroom to prepare all students for a technology driven 21st century global society.
