My students attend OT in the school setting of a Title 1 school. We currently have not equipment to meet their growing needs of movement in the OT therapy room. The needs of these students has changed over the last several years and sensory needs are growing.
These students are in need of movement in many different directions like a net swing which also provides the body pressure needed for calming and focus, pressure by pushing themselves on scooter board for various activities, thus improving strength and tone as well.
Students with sensory needs seek out movement. By giving them an environment to meet some of these needs, we can assist in directing them toward learning the skills needed in the school setting.
