When I entered my classroom for the first time, I was completely overwhelmed by the number of desks and chairs in the room and the lack of space for students to stretch out with a good book, interact with they peers, or simply to engage in a partner activity. At that very moment, I decide to have ten desks removed from the room and give flexible seating a try.
We are requesting five wobble seats for choice in their classroom seating to increase engagement in learning. I want my classroom to more reflective of the real world in that I want my students to have some choices in how they learn.
A classroom should be a place where students are encourage to share, take turns, and work together as a team; all which can be accomplished with flexible seating. Flexible seating has been found to benefit learning with better focus, it also makes the classroom more exciting! Students are given different choices on where they get to sit each day, and this helps make the classroom a fun place to be!
