My 3rd grade students come from low income homes where the basic needs are the number one priority, and Chromebooks and iPads are something most of them could only dream of having. Having these will allow our students to have the power of educational growth that is right at their finger tips through appropriate technology. This year in 3rd grade they will be required to take MCAS, a standardized test that is given on a computer. Having these Chromebooks and iPads will allow our diverse learners to focus their individual needs throughout the year, and also gain experience on using the computer correctly. Therefore, when they are taking the MCAS test they will be able to type their responses more accurately because of the familiarity of learning on the computer as well as in the classroom.
At our school we are changing the way our students view education, and having these will allow diverse learners growth in ways they will look back on to be proud of themselves. Our students deserve a 21st century education regardless of their socioeconomic status.
