As a special education teacher, I try my hardest to make learning fun and unique so that they do not feel discouraged when being pulled out of the general education class.
Students with learning and behavior issues sometimes dread coming to school. They struggle with learning or behavior issues and feel defeated. Providing them with a safe and welcoming environment is key to their success. When some of my students attend class, they do not have the necessary supplies needed in order be successful. As teachers, we ask parents to contribute whatever school supplies they can so that their children are successful. Most of my students begin the school year with nothing. By having the supplies that are needed, such as pencils, pens, construction paper, file folders, correction tape and dry erase markers, they are able to learn and participate. My students can attend school and not worry that they did not bring a pencil with them or that they could not afford a pencil. I will have all the supplies that are needed in order for them to succeed and become stronger students and young adults.
