Rocking stools are designed for those students who need to move and fidget to be comfortable and to focus. The present chairs in the library are not designed for movement. Uncomfortable students are not able to concentrate on lessons or their reading. Flexible seating is more than a trend--it is a recognition that our students' have different needs to be met to help them reach their learning potential. In addition, my students work on collaborative projects in the library. Our current table and chairs set up does not allow students to move in close to each other to collaborate and problem solve when working on technology and projects. This grant is my first step in trying to redesign the library to be a more student-centered environment.
