My students desire an opportunity to dissect specimens without the gross factor. I chose to select a class set of human anatomical models of various organ systems. Students will be able to see and touch the structures for themselves. Students learn the structures much better by seeing the 3D models rather than just looking at diagrams in a book. By using models instead of real specimens, students are able to explore internal structures with a clear conscience that no animals have been harmed. As a bonus, the models can be used with classes for many years to come. Not only will my current students benefit, but hundreds more will be able to benefit from this one project.
