I would like to be able to provide two Chromebooks for my classroom to be able to use on a daily basis. Currently, several of my students do not have access to digital learning opportunities at home or at school. Our classroom is not guaranteed to have available technology. By adding two dedicated Chromebooks to our classroom, my students will have guaranteed access to a multitude of digital literacy opportunities. Students will have daily access to many reliable English Language Arts resources, such as NEWSELA, CommonLit, and Scope Scholastic.
My students are eager to expand and explore the digital world of literacy, which will help enhance their vocabulary and reading skills, while also enabling them to grow in their typing and computer skills. Students need more opportunities to use digital resources rather than always having a paper and pencil assignment. The digital method of literacy allows me to differentiate lessons to meet each individual academic needs. Currently, our students are showing overall low performance in reading on state standardized tests. If students had more opportunities to read, analyze text and answer comprehension questions on technology, their standardized testing scores could improve.
