My diverse group of students are on the Autism Spectrum and have a variety of mixed interests, abilities, and goals. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful experiences. My students love music, singing, dancing and learning new things. They are a group of 6 wonderful, bright, creative, spontaneous kids They are a future doctor, math teacher, nurse and more than I can imagine. As a special education teacher, it is vital that I create a classroom community in which each child is understood, celebrated, and accepted for who they are. Some of my students are learning to read, write, and count, while others are learning to imitate sounds. Our group loves to work during workstation and use different materials to reinforce the class lesson.
