Students with Multiple Disabilities often have difficulties with managing money, either with collecting and saving money or with spending and making change. I have developed an complete program of financial literacy in which students with multiple disabilities have a classroom job, receive a weekly pay, open and keep track of a bank account, make deposits and withdrawals, and ultimately make purchases for items in a classroom store.
Through, these endeavors students are able to work on a variety of skills, such as job responsibilities, money management, and the necessary addition and subtraction for making change.
With the inclusion of a cash-register, students will have the opportunity to work directly as a cashier for the classroom. This addition to the program will greatly enhance the students' overall experience of working with money.
