These books about Biscuit, a loveable yellow puppy, will introduce my students to the character Biscuit and follow him through several different situations that they are likely to encounter during the school year. I specifically chose books that will promote social learning ("Biscuit Wants to Play" and "Biscuit Finds a Friend") as my students often face unsettling social situations at the beginning of a new school year.
With multiple copies of each of these books, my students will have their own copy during our guided reading sessions, and be able to refer to it as they search for information from the texts to complete our unit. My hope is that finishing our character study with "Biscuit Loves the Library" will inspire my students to look for other Biscuit books in our school library, as well as realize that they can find books in the library that appeal to them.
