My preschool students love fantasy play! Their abilities to create elaborate settings and story lines are boundless. We already use two puppets to promote social-emotional skills, and my kiddos really relate to them. They share their personal stories and are very comfortable interacting with these puppets. They regard the puppets as members of our class and special friends.
I can't imagine a better vehicle to promote literacy than using these friendly-faced puppets. With the help of these captivating visual aids, I will be able to introduce letter-sound connections in a fun and engaging way. My students will all delight in interacting with these new classroom friends, returning to them again and again, learning their letters in the process. I anticipate each and every one of the puppets receiving a name that matches their letter and initial sound. What a great motivation!
