Imagine a classroom of 24 busy first graders, and picture the students who seem to be in constant motion. For some learners, moving their bodies while they work is how they focus. Enter the Wobble Chair. These small stools have a rounded base that are great for students who need to wiggle while they work.
Last year I borrowed a Kore Wobble Chair that our school district occupational therapist recommended for a student who has ADHD, and it worked wonders. Soon he was able to recognize how moving in the Wobble Chair helped him work, and his confidence soared as he became more successful academically.
This project will offer more seating choices in my classroom for kids who need motion, starting with four Wobble Chairs that first graders can share. After researching, I discovered that Kore Kids Wobble Chairs are the top recommended stools for kids and are highly durable and long-lasting. The ergonomic design lets kids move and strengthen their core muscles, which is perfect for kinesthetic learners, and they will specifically benefit students who struggle with focus and attention.
Meeting the individual needs of my first graders is a priority, and giving them flexible seating choices that provide movement is one of the ways I can guide them toward becoming independent and engaged learners.
