One word our class has chosen for our classroom community focus is integrated. My class is full of students from different backgrounds and who have different needs. That includes the need to move! and some sensory differences. I know adults who can't sit through an hour meeting, why are we asking students to sit all day in hard and sometimes broken chairs? Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make choices that work best for them.
I believe that with flexible seating I can help all of my students make the best seating choices for them without singling out students who have more movement or sensory differences, making it an more integrated community.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The wobble stools and yoga balls with feet will allow students to sit at desks/higher tables but will still allow some movement. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get their wiggles out while they work. The comfy floor seats and the small wiggle seats will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. They are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom.
Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk.
Help our class keep on the move and be an integrated community!
