Currently, we have a projector that displays information from the computer on a whiteboard. We use this tool throughout the day and often during math and reading instruction. Although, this tool allows teachers to project larger images onto a board for students to see our school ran out of funds to provide a smart board technology to every classroom. As an alternative, I thought a document camera would be a good substitute to assist in the whole group read aloud and math instruction. Often students complain that they can't see the picture in the book or the print in a word problem is too small.
The document camera will provide my students with a clear and better visual of small print and smaller images when I am reading books during whole group/ small group Reading instruction and going over multiple word problems and strategies during Math. This tool will also allow me to maximize their learning experience with their science workbooks. With the help of the document camera, students will be able to see me workout math formulas right in the book, enhance their understanding of literature as I read a book to them and assist in their creativity and stimulate higher thinking during Science.
The wireless remote for PowerPoint presentation is a wonderful tool that will allow me to move freely around my classroom and provide better support to my students. During instructional time, I find myself stuck near the computer because I am not able to go to the next slide without staying near the enter button on the keyboard.
Thank you in advance for helping me create a 21st-century classroom filled with possibilities of future scientists, mathematicians, authors, and professors!
