The best way for a student to reach their reading goals and to develop a love of reading is to READ! I am requesting Julia's House for Lost Creatures, Hilda and the Stone Forest, The Little Robot, Dogman, Dork Diaries, and The Bad Guy books which I have chosen with my students in mind. I see my students checking out these same types of books from our school library. Because the demand is often higher than the supply, they don´t always leave the library with their first choice. I would love to be able to offset this by providing those choices in my classroom library. Books like the Dog Man series by David Pilkney or the Dork Diaries are fun entertaining books that get kids reading. By choosing different grade levels in this genre, I will be giving more opportunities for my students to choose a book they can read independently and enjoy reading. That is my goal with this project. I want to help my students learn to read and help them learn to LOVE reading!
