We are Title 1 with 97% of our students receiving Free/Reduced lunches. Many live in crowed homes and shelters where they have little to no personal space. Despite their circumstances they are very eager to learn and they love to read. They come in daily ready to engage in reading and writing activities for the day. There level of engagement increases when they are given the choice of seating and most choose the floor, to either stretch out or sit down.
